Andrews (1795-1868), an early American missionary to Hawaii, labored for thirty years on this compendium of about 15,000 words. Includes the original introduction by William DeWitt Alexander, which Forbes calls "a fine scholarly essay on the origin of the Hawaiian language", and a new glossary of Hawaiian Place Names by Thomas G.
