Wilcox, as well as 12 full-page plates and 16 textual illustrations, all wood engravings by George F. Andrew, W.B. Closson, W.J. Dana, J.P. Davis, Frank French, Arthur Hayman, and S.L. Putnam, after T.H. Bartlett, Soren Emil Carlsen, W.B. Closson, E.H. Garrett, W.F. Halsall, W.L. Metcalf, F.D. Millet, F.W. Rogers, H. Sandham, W.L. Taylor, and Marcus Waterman. In the publisher's blue diagonal fine-ribbed cloth binding, with beveled boards; black-stamped ruled borders and bands, vignette of a woman in a doorway, vine decorations, and titling banner, and gilt-stamped decorative titling panel with black-stamped titling on the front panel; and black-stamped ruled bands, vignette of a sailboat, vine decorations, and titling, and gilt-stamped decorative panel with black-stamped titling on the spine. All edges gilt, with black coated endpapers. Period bookplate of Helen B. Flagg, with her signature and date to a prefatory blank leaf. Just a hint of edgewear to the boards; else near fine.
