LA CUISINE CREOLE: A Collection of Culinary Recipes from Leading Chefs and Noted Creole Housewives, Who Have Made New Orleans Famous for Its Cuisine
New Orleans: F.F. Hansell & Bro., Ltd., circa 1922. Hardcover. Second edition of the first Creole cookbook ever written. A scarce and classic text on the traditional Creole cuisine of New Orleans and a work noteworthy as much for its literary value as its culinary importance. Octavo: [iv], 268 pp. Original burgundy cloth binding, with a pictorial label affixed to the front panel, and gilt-stamped titling and borders. Faint staining to the title page; the opposing leaves are unaffected, which suggests this may have occured prior to binding. Ink gift inscription to the front flyleaf. The boards are a little edgeworn, largely at the corners and tips, with some toning along the spine and a bit of smudging to the rear panel; else very good. Very good. Item #80457
