The first Danish edition of Sketches Old and New. 12mo: [4], 270 pp. In the publisher's blue diagonal fine-ribbed cloth binding, with black and gilt-stamped ruled and ornamental borders and frames, gilt-stamped floral ornamental devices, and titling on the front panel; gilt-stamped floral ornamental frame with running titling on the spine; and a repetition of the borders and frames from the front on the rear panel, except executed in blind stamp, along with a blind-stamped publisher's device. All edges marbled in dark blue and crimson, with matching marbled endpapers and a bright green silk ribbon marker. Mild dust staining to the top edge. The spine is a touch toned, with some minor rubbing along the extremities of the boards; else a bright, very good or better example of this scarce Twain edition (OCLC locates two holdings, both in Denmark).
