CLIPPINGS FROM DENVER TRIBUNE: Written by Eugene Field, 1881-1883
New York: 1909. Hardcover. This is No. 10 of 25 copies signed by the publisher, Willard S. Morse. "The 'clippings' reprinted in this book were written by Eugene Field, Editor of the Denver Tribune, in which paper they appeared during 1881-2-3. At the time I was Treasurer and later Manager of the Tabor Grand Opera House at Denver. William H. Bush was manager of the Opera House until April 1883. Lieutenant Governor H.A.W. Tabor, who was elected United States Senator for a short term of about 30 days in January 1883, owned the Tabor Grand Opera House. The object of presenting these 'clippings' in this form is simply to preserve a memento of the very pleasant friendship formed before Mr. Field became known to the general public. They are not published for general circulation, only twenty-five copies being printed for the use of friends of the period. Willard S. Morse" (from the colophon).
