Los Angeles: Los Angeles High School, 1938. Hardcover. Inscribed by Ray Bradbury opposite his senior class portrait, and additionally inscribed and dated by him on the front flyleaf. Bradbury is also pictured in this yearbook as a member of the L.A. Players and the Poetry Club, respectively. It was while attending Los Angeles High School that Bradbury (1920-2012) develeped a deep fascination with the concepts of space and time travel, thanks in part to English teacher Jennet Johnson, who is pictured within this yearbook. In a touching remembrance of Johnson written in 1979, Bradbury recalled, "The list of authors she introduced me to is long and wondrous, including many fine women whose work very much influenced mine as the years passed." In 2016, Los Angeles High School unveiled a mural honoring the revered science fiction writer. Small quarto: 256 pp. with a plethora of photographs and illustrations. Original blue buckram binding, with decorative blind stamping and illustrated endpapers. Some mild smudging to the pages trimmed in gold. Light wear to the corners and tips; otherwise very good.
