TALES OF THE ANGLER'S ELDORADO, NEW ZEALAND

New York and London: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1926. First Edition. Hardcover. Zane Grey (1872-1939), known and loved primarily for his Western novels, was an avid fisherman. When his writing started paying off, he managed to spend as many as 300 days a year enjoying the sport. In this work, he recounts his experiences chasing elusive trout and salmon in some of the most picturesque and remote locations in New Zealand. Each story is woven with vivid descriptions of the rugged terrain, the thrill of the chase, and the camaraderie among fellow anglers. Quarto: viii, [2], 228 pp. with a color frontispiece, over 100 plates after photographs, and textual illustrations by Frank E. Phares. In the three-quarter red morocco over marbled paper binding, with gilt-stamped titling and borders, five raised bands, and marbled endpapers. The spine is a little sun faded, with a bit of wear to the corners and tips; otherwise very good. Very good. Item #79338
