"In a series of investigative explorations from the glaciers of Alaska, through the Sierras, and down to the Grand Canyon, the exuberant naturalist reveals the extraordinary workings of nature - glaciation, storms, wildlife, streams, forests, erosion, lakes, and cataclysms - as they conjoin in sublime harmony to shape some of the most magnificent expanses of wilderness on Earth."
