SAMHAIN: Films That Go Bump in the Night

Devon, England: John Gullidge, 1986-1990. 12 issues: Nos. 1, 5-9, 11, 14-18. Standard magazine format, bound with staples. The first four issues here are printed in black-and-white with spot color. The rest feature full color wrappers. Some general edgewear, with old price labels or their shadows to a few issues.

Gullidge became a fan of horror at the age of 12 after seeing the movie Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966) on BBC1. He dedicated the magazine to the entire horror genre and selected for its name the Celtic word meaning festival of the dead. The zine includes news, reviews, comics, original artwork, and articles. In total, 50 issues were printed until the magazine folded in the 1990s.

From the library of Howie Pyro, dubbed the "Patron Saint of the Weird" by Village Voice. Pyro (born Howard Kusten, 1960-2022) was a veteran of the New York punk and underground scenes, best known for his work with D Generation and Danzig. Item #79256
