Set down in the early 15th century, the Femina manuscript is primarily a loose and in many places grossly inaccurate copy of the mid-13th century Tretiz of Walter of Bibbesworth. It was likely written for the purpose of teaching French to anglophones in medieval England. Small quarto: xv, [1], 159, [1] pp. Original plum paper-covered boards over a brown morocco spine with gilt-stamped titling. A bit of mild wear to the corners and tips; otherwise very good.
