In the publisher's dark blue diagonal fine-ribbed cloth binding, with beveled boards, gilt-stamped ruled and floral ornamental borders with square corner devices, central ruled panels with winged figure, head and tail bands, and titling. The bookplate of Joseph M. Gleason (1869-1942), a Californian Catholic priest, historian, and collector of books and photographs, appears on the front pastedown, with his small ink accession stamp to the verso of the title page.
