MARILYN BY MOONLIGHT: A Remembrance in Rare Photos, with Reminiscences by Marilyn Monroe
New York: Barclay House, 1996. First Edition. Hardcover. This is Number 20 of 500 copies. From the private library of Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner (1926-2017), accompanied by a Hefner bookplate and a letter of provenance from the Hugh M. Hefner Foundation. The Playboy magazine founder was captivated by Monroe and though he never met the iconic blonde bombshell, Hefner used "the famous Marilyn Monroe nude" to debut the men's lifestyle and entertainment glossy in December 1953. That first issue of Playboy launched an empire. Later, Hefner purchased the crypt next to Monroe's in the mausoleum at Westwood Village Memorial Park in Los Angeles, where he was interred in 2017. Quarto: 133, [3] pp. with photographs throughout (most color). Original leatherette binding, with silver-stamped titles. Minor bump to the bottom corners, with some light wear to the dust jacket; otherwise very good. Very good / Very good. Item #78670
