Learned discussion of "sciosophy" or "wishful thinking" as it applies to academia, health, spirituality, social order, etc. Jordan (1851-1931) was the founding president of Stanford University, serving from 1891 to 1913. Octavo: [ii], 226 pp. Original blue cloth binding, with gilt-stamped titles and blind-stamped borders. The dust jacket is toned along the spine and folds, with a notation ("autographed") written in pencil on the spine, some general edgewear, and a bit of nibbling by silverfish. Very good / Good.
