According to the Dictionary of National Biography, she was remarkable for her wit and graceful manners. She is credited with nine books, many relating to French society and customs. Octavo, two volumes: xix, 345 pp. + xii, 371, [1, blank], [4], [10, publisher's ads] pp. Original brown cloth binding, blocked in blind, with gilt-stamped titles. A little foxing, with a contemporary pencil signature and date to each front flyleaf. Short split to the bottom of the front joint, with some wear to the corners and tips; otherwise very good.
