SEATTLE AND KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON, 1904

In 1904, Seattle was a city of barely 90,000 people which had just recently shaken off its previous identity as a timber town and was not firmly established as a gateway to Alaska, the Yukon, and Asia. This booster piece describes in detail Seattle and King County, its climate and rainfall, and the region’s leading industries, including commerce by sea, lumber, fishing, and mining. In addition, there are several tables showing everything from average wages by profession to building statistics.
