THE ALASKA HIGHWAY: Vacation Trips on the White Pass and Yukon Route

Printed in Canada, 1951. Oblong booklet: 40 p. with black-and-white photographic illustrations. The pamphlet measures 6” x 3 ½” and contains some scattered pencil notations, with a small tear to the fore-edge of the front panel.

The booklet provides an overview of the places of interest along the Alaska Highway, which at the time stretched 1,522.8 miles northwest from Dawson Creek to Fairbanks. It was constructed during World War II to connect the U.S. mainland to Alaska, and opened to the public in 1948. Today, it is shorter due to some realignments of the highway intended to straighten the road. Item #77196
