The British actress and suffragette Winifred Mayo (1869-1967) was arrested and imprisoned in 1908 for her part in a deputation to the House of Commons. Her account was originally published in the Idler, a British magazine, in April of 1908, and three months later in the FRA, a magazine printed at the Roycroft, the Arts and Crafts community founded by Elbert Hubbard in East Aurora, New York.
