Item #77036 ORIGINAL ASBESTOSDEATH POSTER. Heavy Metal, Doom, Sludge.

ORIGINAL ASBESTOSDEATH POSTER

Minneapolis: Profane Existence Records, 1990. Original poster promoting the release of the Ejection EP from American doom metal group Asbestosdeath, precursor to the highly influential band Sleep. Likely distributed to independent record stores, it also features the band's first EP, Unclean (1989), and advances a Summer 1991 United States Tour that never took place.

Formed in the late 1980s in San Jose, California, Asbestosdeath was initially a trio consisting of Al Cisneros on bass, Chris Hakius on drums, and Tom Choi on guitar before Matt Pike joined as a second guitarist. The band released two 7"s before Choi left toward the end of 1990. Soon thereafter Absestosdeath transformed into Sleep, recruiting guitarist Justin Marler for their debut album, Volume One (1991), but only achieving true cult status as a trio with the release of Holy Mountain (1992), a seminal record in the evolution of stoner metal, and the genre-defining masterpiece Dopesmoker (1999): "follow the smoke to the riff-filled land".

Printed in black on the recto only of a 360 x 550 mm sheet of white stock, which has been neatly folded into quarters, presumably for mailing. Near fine. Item #77036

Price: $125.00
