Although his literary output was slight, he was the dominant poetic figure in the mid-18th century and a precursor of the Romantic movement. In a full green calf binding by William White at 70 Piccadilly, with decorative gilt stamping. five raised bands, ornamental dentelles, marbled endpapers, and a ribbon marker. Two family ink inscriptions, one dated 1854 and the other 1914, to a prefatory blank leaf. Some rubbing along the joints and at the corners and tips; otherwise very good. Very good. Item #76930
