STEP INSIDE, WALK THIS WAY, YOU AND ME BABE, HEY HEY! Def Leppard Scrapbook
A fan-created Def Leppard scrapbook assembled at the height of the British glam metal band's hot, sticky sweet popularity. Includes a variety of newspaper clippings, photographic images from magazines, concert ticket stubs, and a folding poster.
The album's creators, Cindy and Tasha, have filled the endpapers with numerous holographic inscriptions, which range from song lyrics to expressions of Tanya's affection for bassist Rick Savage ("Rick Savage has the key to my heart!") and Cindy's preference for lead singer Joe Elliott ("Joe Elliott will always be my hero!"). A few of the notes are dated, either in 1987 or 1988. The concert ticket stubs suggest the women were living in the San Francisco area at the time the scrapbook was assembled.
Formed in Sheffield, England in 1977, Def Leppard were among the leaders of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) when they caught the attention of AC/DC producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, who helped the band define their sound and style. With the album Pyromania (1983) and its successor, Hysteria (1987), Def Leppard transcended the heavy metal genre and established themselves as one of the most popular music groups of the decade. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 and to this day, their anthemic hit "Pour Some Sugar On Me" is a setlist staple at wedding receptions worldwide.
All the materials are affixed to adhesive sheets with clear plastic overlays, which are spiral bound in a blue buckram album. Extra album sheets have been added at the rear using twist ties. The front panel of the album features two photographic images of the band and one of Rick Savage, which are affixed with cellophane tape. Item #76906
