Two remarkable pieces of advertising ephemera touting the miracle of the New Era Hydraulic Clothes Washer, a plunger-style device that was one of the earliest washing machines manufactured and distributed in the state of New York, preceded only by The Excelsior Wringer. The device is advertised as practical, simple and cheap, as well as guaranteed with a five-year warranty. “In calling your attention to this successful and comparatively late invention, the New Era Washer, we do so knowing, if you are lady, and have the disagreeable work of washing soiled clothing to perform, we have in you an interested and careful observer.” Illustrated with steel engravings, the 7" x 20” broadside and the double-sided 9" x 12 ½ “ advertisement are printed in black on thin tan stock.
