Occasional pencil marginalia. The ink stamp of the National Food Reform Demonstration Council appears on the title page, while the period ink signature of vegetarian George Snape of Wolverhampton appears on the half-title. A bit of minor darkening and wear along the extremities, with some scoring to the rear board; else very good. Scarce, OCLC locates only six copies, with none in commerce.

The Reverend Professor Mayor (1825-1910) was the president of the Vegetarian Society, succeeding Francis William Newman in 1883. This collection of sermons and papers includes a speech entitled “What is Vegetarianism?” and a homily on fasting and simplicity of life. Very good. Item #75718
