Facsimile reproduction of a Augustin Vicente Zamorano's 1836 arithmetic primer, the first school book printed in California, together with an explanatory text and translation by Carey S. Bliss. The facsimile, measuring four by two and three-quarter inches, is bound in soft yellow paper and housed in a front pocket. Printed by Richard J. Hoffman and John Urabec at California State University, Los Angeles on their all-rag hand made paper. This copy is signed by John Urabec on the colophon, with a holiday card, printed on all-rag hand made paper and warmly inscribed by Urabec, laid in. Full brown cloth binding, with a paper label reproducing the title page of the primer inset on the front, and gilt titles on the spine. A fine copy. Fine. Item #75516
