TALKS ON POETRY AND LIFE: Being a Series of Five Lectures Delivered Before the University of Toronto, December, MCMXXV, Translated and Edited by Blanche Hume, With Prefatory Note by Mr. Carman

Toronto: The Ryerson Press, 1926. First Edition. Hardcover. This is number 69 of 200 copies. An autograph letter signed (ALS) by Bliss Carman is tipped in at the front, and a small card inscribed and dated by Blanche Hume is tipped in opposite the title page. Another note in Hume's hand, tipped in on the verso of the front flyleaf, suggests this is one of six large paper copies produced by The Ryerson Press. William Bliss Carman (1861-1929) was a Canadian regional poet of the Maritime Provinces and the New England region of the United States who is remembered chiefly for poignant love poems and one or two rhapsodies in celebration of nature. He was acclaimed as Canada's poet laureate during his later years. Octavo: 58 p. Original brown paper-covered boards, with a printed paper title label. Just a hint of foxing to the contents. The boards are a touch edgeworn, with a small nick to the spine head; otherwise very good. Very good. Item #75468
