Includes her impressions of Tokyo, the English language in Japan, the expatriate community in Korea, coiffure punishment, street scenes in Hong Kong, and their perilous return voyage. According an article in The Cincinnati Enquirer, Christine Collbran was only 18 years old when she wrote this book. She died in Korea of typhoid fever in 1902. Octavo: 176 p. with 24 photographic plates. Original peach cloth binding, with pictorial red, blue, and gray stamping.
