FIVE MURDERS, With a Final Note on the Borden Case

Garden City, New York: Published for The Crime Club, Inc. by Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc., 1928. First Edition. Hardcover. Laid in is a two-page typed letter signed (TLS) by Edmund Pearson on his letterhead. Dated January 11, 1930, it is addressed to "Mrs Kimball" and mentions recent developments in the Lizzie Borden case: "The only important incident about the case, since then, is, as you say, the finding of the axe - I out to say 'axe'. I have been asked so many questions about this implement that I am writing today to the medical examiner and others to see if there is any possibility of relation between this spectacular discovery - which seemed to have been planned by newspapers - and the old crime." Octavo: 299 p. with 9 plates. Original green cloth binding, with printed paper title labels. The dust jacket is toned along the spine and folds, with some chipping at the corners and tips, and extensive tape reinforcement, both recto and verso. Very good / Good. Item #74148
