CIRCLE JERKS, THE CROWD, MAD SOCIETY

Photomechanically reproduced flyer on 8 ½” x 11” yellow paper for the January 27, 1981 concert at The Starwood in West Hollywood, California, which was located at 8151 Santa Monica Boulevard. Gently folded into quarters, with three unobtrusive pin holes.

An early show headlined by the Circle Jerks, whose landmark debut album, Group Sex, was released on October 1, 1980. Formed by former Black Flag vocalist Keith Morris and Redd Kross guitarist Greg Hetson, the hardcore band emerged from the punk underbelly of LA’s South Bay in 1979. They quickly developed a following with their hyperspeed approach and energetic performances. Despite a penchant for breaking up and reuniting, the Circle Jerks are an important influence on Flea, Anti-Flag, Dropkick Murphys, the Offspring, and Pennywise, among many others. Item #73798
