THE SOUTHWEST HOTEL GREETERS GUIDE, JUNE – 1941

El Paso, Texas: Hotel Greeters of America, Southwest Charter No. 16, 1941. Wraps. According to the publisher’s statement, this booklet was “widely distributed throughout West Texas, New Mexico and part of Arizona, by the principal hotels, apartment houses, civic clubs, dude and guest ranches, and travel bureaus.” It includes descriptions of cities ranging from El Paso and Albuquerque to Odessa and Roswell, as well as a feature on Juarez and Old Mexico, along with advertisements for a dozen hotels and resorts. The guide opens to a centerfold map of the Southwest that appears alongside the short article “Hunting in the Great Southwest” by Don Thompson. There are also transportation and air line schedules, long distance telephone rates, and advertisements for regional products like Waterfill and Frazier Famous Whiskey, Tony Lama Cowboy Boots, and Harry Mitchell’s Good, Honest Beer. Octavo: 24 p. Original printed paper wrappers (5 3/8” x 7 7/8”), bound with two staples. Some general minor wear, with four tiny cellophane tape mends to the verso of the rear panel; otherwise very good. Scarce, OCLC locates no holdings of this or any other Southwest Hotel Greeters Guide. Very good. Item #73700
