MODERN PERSIAN COLLOQUIAL GRAMMAR, Containing a Short Grammar, Dialogues and Extracts from Nasir-Eddin Shah's Diaries, Tales, etc. and a Vocabulary

London: Luzac & Co., 1898. First Edition. Hardcover. The first edition in English. Unlike its predecessors, which were based on archaic Persian spoken in India, Rosen's Grammar drew on the colloquial language of what was then modern Persia. 400 p. with the publisher's 1893 ads at the rear. Octavo. Original brown cloth binding, with black stamping. Though the hinges are cracked, the binding is still quite sound. The top edge is dust stained. Some general shelfwear to the boards, which are darkened along the spine. Good. Item #72382
