Havana, Cuba: Guairas, 1967. First Edition. Hardcover. The first edition in English, translated by Eduardo Bernat. Inscribed by Fidel Castro on the front flyleaf. The previous owner, an Australian citizen, was hospitalized in Havana when he met Castro who saw him reading the book and inscribed it for him, adding “portada” in reference to the Cuban revolutionary’s image on the front panel of the dust jacket. First-hand account of the military campaigns and political events that culminated in the January 1959 popular insurrection that overthrew the U.S.-backed dictatorship in Cuba.
