Short story about two Parisian prostitutes by the French symbolist writer whose work reflects a revolt against naturalism and a combination of Romantic idealism and cruel sensuality. Introduction by Patrick Magarick. Designed and produced by D’Ambrosio, using hand set 14 pt. Greeting Monotone, and Fournier (Introduction / Colophon) types; printed on Madeleine Pestiaux’s handmade “Misty Rose” paper, using a Vandercook No. 4 proof press, with Van Son’s inks: Brick Dust and Slate Gray. All multicolored areas obtained through the medium of seriagraphy. Box binding with floral cloth side panels, a printed gray paper title label atop a telescoping spine composed of five stepped planes. Additionally, the text includes raised and recessed leaves, including the title page, which incorporates a stretched netting meant to resemble opera hose, and decoratively cut edges.
