New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, Henry Holt, and Putnam, 1982-2017. First Edition. Hardcover. First edition, first printings. "A", "B", "C", and "E" are review copies, with the publisher’s slip and/or promotional materials laid in. The first editions of "B", "C", "E", "F", and "I" are accompanied by the uncorrected proof. Every volume is signed by Sue Grafton, save for "Y" and the short story collection Kinsey and Me (2013). "A" through "F" and the proofs of "B", "C", "E", and "F" are additionally inscribed by Grafton. A complete set of the alphabet mysteries featuring sleuth and private investigator, who Grafton described as her alter ego: "the person I might have been had I not married young and had children." The series is set in Santa Teresa, a fictionalized version of Santa Barbara, California. "B" and "C" won the first two Anthony Awards for Best Novel, and the 25 books were on the New York Times Best Seller list for an aggregate of about 400 weeks. Grafton stated that the series would end with "Z" Is for Zero, but she died before she could begin writing it. Her daughter, Jamie Schmidt, said Grafton would never allow a ghostwriter to write in her name and "as far as we in the family are concerned, the alphabet now ends at Y." Octavo, 31 volumes. The proofs are bound in the original printed paper wrappers. Nearly every volume is unread and otherwise pristine. A fine set in fine dust jackets. Fine / Fine. Item #72026
