WEST WIND: The Life Story of Joseph Reddeford Walker, Knight of the Golden Horseshoe
Los Angeles: Percy H. Booth, 1934. First Edition. Hardcover. Limited to 100 copies, and signed and dated by publisher Percy Booth on the title page. A native of Tennessee, Walker (1798-1876) became a frontiersman in Missouri before reconnoitering the Far West under Captain Benjamin Bonneville. He later led an expedition with J.B. Chiles (1843) and was a guide on Fremont's second and third expeditions (1844, 1845-46). Six illustrations and a folding map, with textual decorations by Lawrence A. Patterson. Quarto. Original printed paper-covered boards over a brown leather spine, with a printed paper spine label.
