LET THEM EAT CHEESECAKE: The Art of Olivia

Roslyn, New York: Ozone Productions, Ltd., 1993. First Edition. Hardcover. Presentation copy, inscribed by Olivia De Berardinis to Hugh Hefner and his second wife, Kimberley Conrad, on the title page: "Hef & Kimberley, I always get tongue-tied (my middle name) when I try to tell you both how much I've appreciated you. Since my pen will not stutter, I thank you both for all the special people we've experienced at the mansion and all your generosity, we've had great fun [...] And finally Hef, it is incredible for me to grow up with Playboy & Vargas, and to have your introduction in my first book. You are the cheesecake seal of approval!" Additionally inscribed by Olivia opposite Hefner's foreword, in which he writes, "Olivia is for the Nineties what Alberto Vargas as the Forties and Sixties. Whereas Vargas' women are soft edged and credible, Olivia's women step beyond the real and intimate into a world of the erotic imagination. They are paying tribute to erotica from the 1880s, creating art-deco heroines, outrageous punk street creatures, or tattooed ladies. Olivia is a personal favorite of mine, as well as a friend. Her work hangs in the Great Hall of the Playboy Mansion." This collection features more than 100 drawings and paintings, including several which appeared in Playboy. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the Hugh M. Hefner Foundation. Quarto. Original black cloth binding, with gilt titles. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket. Fine / Fine. Item #68875
