Aimard was a French adventurer who wrote more than 70 popular novels about life on the American frontier and in Mexico. This work was inspired in part by his experiences as part of an unsuccessful armed expedition to secure the independence of Sonora from Mexico. From the library of Henry Jeffrey Flower, 6th Viscount Ashbrook, with a small bookplate featuring the family crest on the front pastedown and his signature and brief notations to the prefatory leaves. 12mo. In a period one-half red calf over marbled paper binding, with decorative gilt stamping, a green morocco spine label, and five raised bands. The spine is lightly sun faded; otherwise very good.
