Accomplished in a number of fields, including politics, music, geology, and art, Lauder (1784-1848) is considered one of the most successful literary imitators of his friend Sir Walter Scott. 12mo, three volumes. In period full ruled blue calf bindings, with elaborate gilt and blind stamping, red morocco spine labels, marbled endpapers, and ribbon markers. The armorial bookplate of John Waldie and a related label appear on each front pastedown. The spines are moderately sun faded, with some occasional edgewear; otherwise very good. Wolff 3952.
