The first of Byron's two Venetian plays, a well-documented historical drama about the Doge who turned traitor to the Venetian Republic. Published along with his poem based on Dante's exile and death in Ravenna. Octavo. In a period full green morocco binding, with elaborate gilt stamping, eight raised bands, ornamental dentelles, cream endpapers, and a ribbon marker. The half-titles are present, missing the terminal advertisement. Period ink inscription and date (1833) to the verso of the front flyleaf. Tiny bit of rubbing to the extremities; otherwise very good.
