THE FARMERS AND TRADERS GUIDE SHOWING AT ONE VIEW, THE WHOLESALE OR RETAIL VALUE OF ANY COMMODITY FROM ONE QUARTER OF A CENT TO FIFTEEN DOLLARS IN DOLLARS AND CENTS; WITH A VARIETY OF USEFUL TABLES

Pumpkintown, East Tennessee: Printed by Johnston & Edwards, 1839. First Edition. Hardcover. A Native American village, Pumpkintown (a corruption of “Potemkin town”) is no longer in existence, but was originally located in McMinn County, Tennessee near present day Athens. 136 p. with printed tables throughout. 16mo. Original printed roan-backed boards, with a later leather spine. The contents are browned, with some pencil notations to the prefatory and concluding leaves. Partial separation of the rear pastedown from the rear board; detachment is not a concern. Though the front hinge is cracked, the binding is still quite sound. The boards are worn and soiled, with some shallow loss at the tips and occasional minor scuffing. However, the titles on the front and the printer’s advertisement on the verso are still legible. Scarce, OCLC locates only five copies. Good. Item #66559
