New York: Random House, 1954. First edition. Hardcover. First edition, #999 of 1,000 copies signed by William Faulkner. An allegorical story of World War I set in the trenches in France and dealing ostensibly with a mutiny in a French regiment, this novel was awarded the 1955 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Octavo. Original dark blue cloth binding, with royal blue, gray, and gilt stamping. Internally crisp and clean. Very light bump to the top corner of the front panel. The spine is a touch faded, with a faint stain near the spine head; otherwise very good or better. Housed in the publisher's slipcase, which shows a bit of wear and fading along the extremities. Very Good. Item #62704
