David Fallon, who had been with the British army in India for several years, was in Australia when the war broke out. In his book, 'The Big Fight,' he tells of the great volunteer army of Australia, of the journey of the Anzacs to Egypt and the landing at Gallipoli, of the holding and of the final evacuation, when of Capt. Fallon's sixty men only eight were living and they were badly wounded. After a visit to London Fallon received a commission as lieutenant in the 'Oxford and Bucks' light infantry and soon after was sent to the Flanders front, where, after service in the trenches, he became a 'spotter,' or observer, in an airplane. Later he had an adventure as commander of the tank 'Razzle Dazzle,' which cut short his career with the giant caterpillars" (Book Review Digest, Volume 14). Octavo.
