Shortly thereafter, Armstrong (1882-1974) volunteered with the British Army and served in France as a Private in the Artists' Rifles. He was commissioned into the 8th Battalion Middlesex Regiment, T.F. in 1915 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1916. Signed by Armstrong on the front flyleaf. 12mo. Original red cloth binding, with a printed paper spine label. The spine is a bit sun faded. In the uncommon dust jacket, which is browned along the spine, with a half-inch chip to the spine head and some mild staining to the front panel. Very good / Good. Item #69417
